Social Enterprise
Social enterprise offers a valuable means of addressing social issues and stimulating community involvement in environmental projects. However what many people overlook is the opportunity that social enterprise also presents as a profitable business venture, as proven by the success of Hill Holt Wood (HHW) of which our principal consultant Nigel Lowthrop is co-founder/director.
Social Enterprise in Action at HHW
Established in 14 Ha of ancient woodland that was in environmental decline and had a negligible income potential limited to rough game shooting, HHW is now a community controlled charity and social enterprise that will turn over in excess of £500,000 a year, employs 20 full time staff and through conservation schemes has put the wood onto a path of environmental recovery. The social enterprise generates income by working with young people excluded from mainstream education and is nationally recognised as achieving groundbreaking success in a number of areas.
With experience, ground breaking vision and belief in the possibilities that social enterprise presents for truly sustainable development, encompassing social, environmental and economic concerns, we offer project management on all aspects of social enterprise, including practical advice on establishing, securing grant funding for and conducting social audits of social enterprise.
