A Self Sufficient Home
Off-grid homes are self sufficient i.e. they do not rely on municipal water, sewer, natural gas, grid electricity or similar utility service supplies. Electrical power can be generated on-site with renewable energy sources such as solar or wind, or with a generator and adequate fuel reserves. On-site water sources from a well, stream, or rainwater, through filtration can provide drinking water, whilst composting toilets avoid the need for sewer connection.
