Investment in Energy

Generating renewable power can provide an attractive investment opportunity when other options are proving to be less attractive. Given that there can be grants for power generation technologies along with significantly more attractive Feed-in Tariffs, the rates of return and pay-back periods begin to look particularly interesting. Green energy schemes can now be seen as a pure investment with a variety of entry levels in terms of capital investment with returns often above 10%. For example:

TechnologyCapacity (kW)Approx. Capital Cost*
PV2£12,000
Wind Turbine6£25,000
Wind Turbine15£50,000
Wind Turbine100£300,000
Wind Turbine300£450,000
Anaerobic Digester300£900,000
Anaerobic Digester1,000£3,000,000

Clearly the choice of which technology to adopt will depend on an array of factors. That is why we will always undertake a scoping exercise before advising on the options available. AD is the only option which provides complete fuel security, but it relies on the availability of feedstocks and is more capital intensive – but of course the revenues are that much greater than a wind turbine working at perhaps 30% efficiency.

Our approach therefore is straightforward and independent and can include all or some of the following:

  • Scoping
  • Feasibility
  • Project management
  • Planning compliance
  • Environmental compliance
  • Design
  • Funding
  • Delivery
